I was shocked to learn that dark roast coffee actually has LESS caffeine than light roast
I always thought dark roast was stronger in every way. Then I read an article from a coffee science blog that broke down the numbers. During roasting, some caffeine actually burns off, plus the beans expand and lose density. So if you measure by scoop, light roast has more caffeine. I tested it myself with my usual morning brew. Anyone else find this totally backwards from what you assumed?

Honestly blew my mind too when I first found out. Feels like everything coffee companies tell us is the opposite of real science.

Wait is that actually true about the science being backward? I watched this documentary last week about how coffee companies used to pay scientists to say their beans were better than everyone else's and it totally changed how I look at my morning cup now.
