I finally realized I was using way too much water for my pour-over after my friend watched me brew and laughed

I was filling my V60 up to the brim every time and it took like 4 minutes to drain, and she said no wonder your coffee tastes so weak, you are basically making a soup, and now I do 3 to 1 ratio and it's like a different drink altogether, has anyone else had that kind of coffee moment where someone just watched you and knew instantly what you were messing up?

I used to think more water meant more coffee, but that soup comment changed everything.

Oh geez, I gotta disagree with you there. More water doesn't mean more coffee at all, it means weaker coffee. If you dump in extra water without adding grounds, you're basically making brown water. The soup thing is right because if you add too much broth to your stew, you don't have stew anymore, you have soup. Same deal with coffee - too much water and you lose the flavor entirely. You want more coffee, just make a bigger batch with the right ratio of grounds to water. Keep it simple and strong, that's my motto.
