Finally gave in and tried a pour over setup after years of French press loyalty

My coworker Mark kept pushing his V60 at me. Said I was missing out on cleaner flavors. I tried it last Sunday at his place in Portland. Used his Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans and honestly the brightness was way better than my usual muddy press. Am I wrong for liking this better or is this just a phase?

Did you try grinding coarser for the V60 or just use your usual press grind?

You really need to go quite a bit coarser for a V60 compared to a press pot, that's probably the biggest change. A typical press grind has a lot more fines that can clog up the paper filter and make the brew bitter and slow. Starting at something closer to kosher salt than table salt gives the water a proper flow rate and opens up the flavor.
