A barista in Denver told me my grind was way too fine for pour-over
I was spending 4 minutes on a single cup and wondering why it always tasted bitter. He watched me brew once and said I was choking the filter with powder dust. Have any of you gotten a coffee habit check from a pro that totally flipped your method?

The barista at Blue Bottle in San Francisco told me my water temperature was too low, around 185 degrees, not the 200 it should have been. I was under-extracting and getting sour cups, then grinding finer to compensate, which just made everything worse. That one change fixed my pour-over routine more than any grinder upgrade ever did.

Ha! Same thing happened to me - got a cheap thermometer and realized I'd been brewing barely warm water for months.
