Thought git was overkill for a solo beginner, now I use it even for a 20 line script
When I started learning Python two years ago, I figured git was just for teams and big projects, so I saved files as script_v2_final_actually.py like a genius. Then I lost a working version of a scraper when I overwrote it by mistake, and a guy in a Discord server walked me through git init and commit in about 10 minutes. Now I run git on every little thing, even a 20 line script that renames files, and I have not lost code since. Turns out the scary part was just the words, not the tool itself. Anyone here still skipping version control because it feels like extra work?
