One comment made me rewrite my whole blog post format

Someone on Reddit said my tutorials were too preachy and full of fluff, so I cut every intro paragraph down to two sentences and added code right away. Has anyone else gotten feedback like that and just ignored it for weeks before trying it?

Three years ago somebody told me my cooking blog had too many stories about my kids and not enough actual recipes, so I ignored them for six months and kept the fluff. Then I finally tried their way, cut every intro to two lines, and my page views doubled in a week. The thing is, that feedback felt like an attack on my voice, like they wanted me to be a robot spitting out ingredients. But what they really wanted was respect for their time, and I was treating my readers like they had nothing better to do than read my diary. You don't have to agree with every comment, but if one person says it, ten more are thinking it. I'd say try the change for a single post, even if it hurts, because the numbers will tell you the truth faster than your ego will.
