I was looking through an old programming book from the 90s and found something wild

I found a used copy of 'Learn C in 21 Days' from 1995 at a library sale. The back cover said you needed a computer with a 486 processor and 8 MB of RAM to run the code examples. It just hit me how much easier it is now to start, when any cheap laptop can handle it. Has anyone else come across old tech specs that made you appreciate how things have changed?

Honestly, that used to sound like a lot of power back then.

Remember when a 1GB hard drive felt huge? Now that's a single phone photo. My first computer had 256MB of RAM and we thought it could do anything. It's wild how fast our idea of "a lot" changes.

Fr fr, 256MB of RAM was legit considered beast mode back in the day. I remember my first computer had 32MB and everyone told me that was more than enough for anything I'd ever need to do lol. Now my phone has like 8GB and it still feels kinda slow sometimes. It's crazy how fast everything moved from kilobytes to megabytes to gigabytes, and now we're talking terabytes like it's nothing. Future kids are gonna laugh at us for calling 1TB huge.
