Chose Python over JavaScript for my first language 3 months ago, and I just finished my first tiny app with it
Three months ago I was stuck between Python and JavaScript for my very first language, and I picked Python mostly because a guy at the Columbus library coding meetup said the syntax reads like plain English. I made it through the free Codecademy course in about 6 weeks, and last night I finally got a little budget tracker working where you type in what you spent and it adds it up. The first two weeks were rough because I kept forgetting colons at the end of my if statements, but I stopped making that mistake after a while. I know everyone says JavaScript is better because you can see stuff in the browser right away, and maybe they are right, but printing to the terminal felt less scary for me. Now I am wondering if I should stick with Python for a bit longer or switch over before I get too set in my ways. If you started with Python, how long did you wait before you tried a second language?
