Was convinced you needed a full 4-axis setup for small batch aluminum parts, but a guy at the trade show in Cleveland changed my mind.

That Cleveland show had some wild setups in the back corners. Saw a guy running aluminum heatsinks on a seriously tricked-out 3-axis with a crazy workholding rig. Made me rethink my whole "more axes equals better parts" thing.

Nah, you can't beat the raw speed and simpler programming of a 3-axis for high volume stuff like heatsinks. That tricked out rig @jamienguyen saw proves the point, it's all about smart fixturing and process. More axes just add cost and another thing to go wrong when you need to pump parts out fast.
