That moment last Tuesday when I realized my feeds and speeds chart was way off

I was running a 6061 aluminum part on a Haas TM-1 last week and couldn't figure out why the finish looked like garbage. Checked my spindle load and it was barely 20 percent, so I bumped the feed from 20 IPM to 35 IPM on a 3/8 end mill. Night and day difference in surface finish, and I felt dumb for not trying it sooner. Has anyone else had a similar brain fart where you just assumed the old numbers were right?

That chart is actually missing a few key datapoints. The green line there doesn't account for the seasonal adjustments they made last quarter. Usually throws the whole thing off by about 15 percent.

Wait, hold on... seasonal adjustments? That's a thing? I've been staring at the same chart for years and never once thought about that. Last time I ran 304 stainless I had a similar moment where my feeds felt totally off until I bumped it up way past what the chart said.

Seasonal adjustments" blew my mind too, I used to think charts were gospel.
