Paid $180 for a "precision" tool I never actually needed

Bought a digital edge finder on a whim last month because a forum post made it sound essential. Turns out my old mechanical one does the same job in under a minute, and the digital one just sits in the drawer. Anyone else drop cash on a gadget that sounded great but didn't really change their setup time?

Used to think anything digital had to be better. Then I grabbed a laser level that needed calibration every time I pulled it out of the case. My bubble level does the job faster and never lies to me. Now I only replace a tool if the old one actually breaks or slows me down.
