Heard a guy at a shop in Charlotte say 0.001 inch tolerance is overkill for hobby stuff and it made me rethink my whole setup...

I always chased tenths on every part until he showed me his parts running fine with 0.005 threw me for a loop, anyone else loosen up their tolerances after hearing something like that?

Man I was the same way, always chasing that tenth like my life depended on it. Then a buddy showed me his stuff running at 0.003 and I realized I was wasting so much time for no real gain. It's humbling but honestly freeing once you let go.

Oh man, totally get that. For me it was switching to a simpler setup and just tuning for consistency instead of peak numbers, made everything way less stressful and actually faster in the long run.
