Debate: Should you trust a new operator's measurements or double-check everything yourself?
After a new guy at our shop in Detroit misread a print by 0.010" on a Haas VF-2 and scrapped a $400 part, do you take time to verify every setup or just let them learn from their own mistakes?

Brah, I let a new kid touch off a tool once and he buried an endmill into a $600 block of 6061.

First time I let a trainee run the CMM solo he crashed the probe into a part and locked up the whole table. Cost me two hours of my Friday afternoon fixing it while he stood there with his hands in his pockets. So yeah, I double check everything now. Learned that lesson the expensive way. You gotta let them learn but not on parts that cost half your paycheck. Keep a pile of scrap blocks around for them to mess up on instead. That way the new guy gets his practice and you don't have to explain a $400 mistake to the boss.
