A new guy at the shop in Tulsa told me he'd rather run a manual lathe than babysit a CNC all day.
He said it while we were both cleaning chips out of a Haas VF-2 last Tuesday, and it made me wonder if anyone else has met younger operators who prefer the old iron.

Ha! That's a wild take. What was his reason? Did he say he liked the feel of the manual work, or was it more about not trusting the CNC to run on its own?

He said it was both, really liked the hands-on feel but also didn't trust the machine alone.

Poor guy, it's rough when you can't quite trust the tech to do its thing even when you want to. Really feel for him having to split the difference like that.
