Visited my sister in Phoenix last week and the city's tree shade program actually surprised me
I was out there helping her move into a place near Roosevelt Row and noticed these young shade trees planted in a row along the sidewalk, each with a little tag saying it came from the city's cool pavement and tree program. Turns out Phoenix has been planting thousands of trees a year to cut down on heat, and you could feel the difference walking under them versus the bare asphalt a block over. I didn't expect a desert city to be doing this much on the shade front. Has anyone here seen a similar tree canopy push in their own town, and did it actually make a dent in summer heat?
