Trying to find a real E85 station near Amarillo added 300 miles to my trip and wasted a full day
I drive a flex fuel truck and decided 8 months ago to switch to E85 to cut my footprint. Sounds simple, right? Nope. I spent 3 weekends driving around to stations that Google said carried it, and 2 of them had pumps that had been dry for months. I called 11 places before one guy in Dalhart actually knew what I was talking about instead of guessing. The whole hunt ran me about 300 extra miles and a full Saturday, and honestly the savings I got back came nowhere close to that. What bugs me is that the apps and maps still show these dead stations as active, so you just keep chasing nothing. If I am doing this for the planet, why is the basic info this broken? Has anyone else found a way to actually trust these station listings, or do you just call ahead every single time?
