The monarchs just don't come through like they used to

I remember ten years ago my backyard in Kansas would be full of monarch butterflies every September. This year I saw maybe three the whole month. I planted milkweed along the fence line and it helped a little, but something bigger is going on. Anyone else notice the same thing where you live?

You said "monarchs just don't come through like they used to" and I think it's the pesticides killing all the milkweed along their migration path.

Wait, is that really the main reason they're disappearing @linda_wood?

Totally agree with you on the milkweed thing. I've seen it firsthand out in the fields around here where they used to spray and now there's nothing but dead dirt. The monarchs just skip over whole counties now because there's nowhere for them to stop and lay eggs. It's crazy how fast it happened too, like within a few years the butterflies just vanished from spots I've known my whole life. We need to push back on these pesticide companies hard.
