The city compost bin on Maple St jammed on me in the rain, and I stood there for 15 minutes with a dripping bucket
I ended up dumping the whole thing in the trash because I couldn't get the lid open, then called the public works line the next morning and they said the latch had been broken since Tuesday, so does anyone know if there's a trick to these bins or should I just start a backyard pile?
The latch had been broken since Tuesday" really bugs me, because I used to figure city bins were built to last and we just had to deal with the quirks. After hearing they knew about it and left it, I'd say skip the bin and start your backyard pile.
