The anti-Solyndra crowd got one thing right about solar subsidies

I was reading through the EIA data from 2023 and saw that utility scale solar now costs $29 per megawatt hour on average. That's cheap. But here's what surprised me: the DOE's own numbers show we spent about $535 million on failed solar companies between 2009 and 2014. That's real money that didn't lead to anything. Is anyone else bothered by how much waste gets glossed over in the clean energy push?

Yeah but $535 million is pocket change compared to what we got out of it.
