The 51 percent number from the IEA report on EVs got me worried about how fast we're moving
I was reading through the IEA Global EV Outlook update from 2023 and one line stuck with me: over half of all electric cars on the road worldwide are in China. That's not a slow shift, that's a whole country moving at a speed we aren't. Here in the States we're still arguing about charging stations while Beijing is putting up chargers faster than we approve permits. The other stat that got me was that global EV sales hit roughly 14 million in 2023, and we're a small slice of that pie. I'm not saying we're doomed, but if we treat this like a slow roll, other countries will own the whole supply chain before we get moving. Anyone else read that report and feel like the US is standing still while the race is already halfway done?
