Swapped my gas lawn mower for a reel mower last spring
Used to burn through 5 gallons of gas a season cutting my yard in Portland. Bought a $90 Fiskars reel mower off Craigslist in May. Quiet, no emissions, and my grass is actually healthier now. Anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference?

Most of my old habits were just wasteful" - that hits hard because I used to think reel mowers were just for hipsters or people with tiny lawns. I had a gas Toro for years and honestly felt like I was doing something wrong if I wasn't making noise and smelling fumes every Saturday. Then I borrowed a neighbor's reel mower for a week and realized my grass looked way better with less effort. Never went back. The quiet is the biggest thing nobody talks about, you can actually mow at 7am without your neighbors hating you.
