Neighborhood compost pickup solved my bin problem in 2 weeks

I kept trying to compost at home in Austin but my apartment balcony bin always got gross and full fast. Then I found a local service that picks up buckets every Tuesday for $18 a month. They gave me a 5 gallon bucket with a tight lid and I keep it under the sink now. I stopped throwing away food scraps completely and my trash only goes out every other week. Anyone else use a pickup service like this or do you all manage backyard bins fine? Would switching be worth it if I ever get a house?
