Neighbor called me out for watering my lawn in the middle of a drought in Phoenix
They said I was wasting water when the city is begging people to cut back, so I switched to drip irrigation for the flower beds and let the grass go brown. Has anyone else had someone call them out on something that made you totally change what you were doing?

Yeah that's real. @the_karen is right, brown grass and lower bill is the win.

That line about "wasting water when the city is begging people to cut back" really got to me too. I actually had the same thing happen a few years back during a bad dry spell, and it made me rethink my whole approach to landscaping. After letting my lawn go dormant and switching to a simple soaker hose setup for a few native plants, I realized the brown grass actually looked fine and my water bill dropped a ton. It's funny how one comment from a neighbor can completely shift your perspective on something you never even questioned before.

The "neighbor comment changing your perspective" part hits home. My neighbor just told me my sprinklers were running straight into the gutter. Felt stupid. I ripped out half my lawn last spring, put in some sedum and lavender. Water bill dropped 40 bucks a month easy. The bees love the lavender more than the grass anyway.
