My compost pile went anaerobic and stank up the whole yard
I was out back in Portland turning my compost bin last Tuesday, and it hit me, this awful rotten egg smell. I realized I'd added too many wet kitchen scraps without enough browns like leaves or shredded paper. I stopped adding greens for a week, mixed in a whole bag of dry leaves from the neighbor, and turned it every other day. It took about ten days, but the smell is gone and it's heating up again. Has anyone else fixed a stinky pile, and what's your go-to brown material?

Wait, you actually shredded cardboard for bedding? @the_david, I mean that sounds like it would be way too rough and dusty. Maybe it's just me but I can't see that being good for their little feet at all.
