Is it just me or does local meat deserve more credit in climate talks?

I buy all my meat from farms that use rotational grazing. Everyone says go plant-based, but these methods improve land and store carbon. Can we talk about this approach more?

Remember, cows produce methane no matter how they're grazed.

My buddy Carl over in Modesto switched to rotational grazing on his dairy farm last year. He was all excited about the better grass and healthier cows... spent a ton on new fencing and water lines. Come fall, he had the methane guys out for their regular check, and the numbers were practically the same as his old way. He said it felt like the whole expensive upgrade just moved the manure piles around. The burps and gas... they don't really stop just because the cow is in a different field.

Yeah, but that methane check is just a snapshot. The real benefit of rotational grazing isn't about stopping the burps tomorrow, it's about building healthier soil that can actually pull carbon down over the long term. Carl's upgrade moved the manure piles to where they can do some good, feeding the grass instead of just sitting in a feedlot. It's a slow process, not a quick fix. The methane from the cows might be similar now, but the whole system gets better at handling it over years.
