Chose the bus over a rental car for a work trip to Portland

It was a 4-hour ride each way, but I got a lot of reading done and saved about 40 pounds of CO2 according to my travel app. Has anyone else found a good alternative for a routine trip?

Honestly that sounds like a win all around. I mean, getting that much reading time back is huge, and saving the emissions is a real bonus. I've started taking the train for some regional meetings and it's the same deal, way less stressful than driving. Makes the trip feel almost productive instead of just wasted time.

Wait, isn't reading on the train super bumpy though, @karen410?

My commute from Brighton to London gives me a solid 52 minutes each way. I've finished three books this month just on the train. You get used to the motion pretty fast, and it's way better than staring at traffic.
