Wasted $60 on a bad lawn service last spring

Hired a guy from a Facebook ad to reseed my yard near Edgewater Park. He put down cheap seed that washed away in the first rain. Anyone else get burned by a local landscaper advertising deals?

I mean I get why you're frustrated but maybe it's also partly on you for going with a random Facebook ad. Those guys are usually just guys with a truck and a dream, not actual landscapers with insurance or real experience. I used a local crew near me that's been around for years and they told me cheap seed from big box stores just doesn't hold up on slopes or near water like Edgewater has. Did you ask about what kind of seed mix they were using or check their past work? Idk, sometimes you get what you pay for with those too-good-to-be-true deals.

@patriciacarr we used the same cheap seed trick last year and that slope washed out in one storm.

Did you guys get any runoff issues into your neighbor's yard too? I've heard the cheap mix just doesn't have the right root structure for slopes. We're in a similar spot and I'm honestly worried about the same thing happening here.
