Warning: The Sidewalk in Front of West Side Market Is Not Yours During a Saturday Morning Rush
Last Saturday around 9am I watched a woman with a stroller and a guy with a full cart of produce play chicken on the sidewalk by the West 25th entrance, and neither one would budge. The thing people keep getting wrong is treating that stretch like a normal sidewalk instead of what it really is, a shared loading zone for everybody hauling stuff. I do this walk twice a week on my way to the gym, so I've learned to just step onto the curb and go around, and it takes two seconds. If we all did that, nobody would be stuck doing the awkward shuffle with 20 pounds of apples. Has anyone else noticed it's worse since the warmer weather started, or is it just me?
