My neighbor on W 117th said something about our street that I keep thinking about
I was out front raking last Saturday and my neighbor Dale came over to talk about the pothole by the corner that's been there since the winter. He said he's lived on this block for 22 years and he's watched 4 different families move out because they got tired of waiting on the city for stuff like that. I always figured that's just how it is here, but he said the families who stayed all did one thing, they showed up to the block club meetings. He told me only about 8 people come to those meetings now, and most of them are over 60. I went to the one last month at the library on Lorain and honestly he's spot on, it was a small group. Now I'm wondering if I should start going or if I'm just gonna be the young guy in the room. Has anyone here actually gotten the city to fix something on their street through the block club, or is that just wishful thinking?
