Appreciation post: The GCRTA bus driver who showed me a faster route to work
I learned last Tuesday that the #26 bus shaves 12 minutes off my commute compared to the #26A I was taking, and the driver just casually told me when I asked about a detour.

oh man YES this is such a real thing. I had a bus driver on the #48 once who saw me running late and literally waited an extra 10 seconds for me to get on, then she told me about a shortcut through the back roads that cuts my trip by almost 15 minutes on bad traffic days. I never would have known because the app just shows the standard route but she knew the shortcuts from driving it every day. Now I always ask drivers if they have any tips because they're the ones who actually know what's happening on the ground. It's like getting a secret cheat code for your commute and it makes me appreciate them so much more.
