Why does nobody talk about how much easier sweeps were back in 2012 before all these EPA stove rules kicked in?
I cleaned a house last week that still had a pre-2015 wood stove and the chimney was spotless compared to the new EPA stoves I see now that cake up in half the time because they choke the fire down so much, anyone else noticing this huge before and after difference in creosote buildup over the last decade?

Pre-2015 wood stove" is what I saw too and honestly I used to think the new ones were better until I cleaned one.

Whoa, hold on, what? You actually cleaned one of the old stoves? I've only ever had to clean out the new pellet stoves and that's already a pain. I cannot imagine dealing with one of those old school cast iron monsters. Those things looked like they could survive a bomb blast and still be full of ash. I bet you found some ancient crusted up creosote in there that was practically fossilized. That's kinda wild to think about, honestly.
