Was dead set against using those twist-lock rods for years

Finally caved and bought one after my second extension rod fell off the roof last Tuesday in Chicago. That little locking mechanism actually holds way better than I thought it would. Anyone else have a tool they ignored forever that turned out to be worth it?

Betty said "gimmick is a strong word" but honestly... I'm still not fully sold on it. I mean yeah it's better than those basic rods that just slide out, but calling it a total game changer feels like a lot. I've seen guys at work use the twist locks and they still had to check them every trip because they'd loosen up over time. Maybe I'm just stubborn from all those years of using rope and a good knot, but a rod falling off the roof is going to happen with or without a twist lock, you know? It's a simple tool not some miracle invention. Unless you're strapping down a forklift or something I don't think it's that serious.

Gimmick is a strong word for something that actually works though.

I used to think they were a gimmick too but after watching my neighbor's pole blow off I changed my mind.
