Took the brush off the rod, blamed the rod for 20 minutes

Tuesday morning on a two-story in Medford, my wire brush head snapped clean off inside the flue about halfway down. I pulled up the rod and just stood there staring at the bare end. Spent 20 minutes cussing the rod and switching to a different one before I noticed the clamp had worked loose, not the rod failing. New brush, tightened the bolt with a wrench this time, and got back to work. Job took an extra hour but the customer was cool about it. Anyone else had a tool fail on them in a dumb, preventable way like that?

Heck, sounds more like the bolt failed you than the rod, didnt it?
