That 70-year-old sweep in Ohio changed my whole brush routine
Met a retired guy in Dayton who said he never spun brushes over 800 rpm after cracking a clay liner in 1962, and now I'm second-guessing every fast flex job I've done since. Doesn't the extra torque do more harm than good on older flues, or is he just stuck in his ways? Has anyone else swapped to slower speeds and seen a difference?

Ask him what liner it was and how he knew the crack came from speed and not something else. Ive spun 1200 rpm on old clay for years without issues, but I also do a manual check for cracks and mortar before any fast pass. A crack in 62 mightve been from a bad install or a cold joint, not the rpm.
