Switched from a wire brush to a poly whip and never looked back
Used to spend 20 minutes scraping every flue with a wire brush and still miss spots. Tried a poly whip on a job in Oak Park last month and got it done in 8 minutes flat with way less dust. Anyone else made the switch or am I late to the party?

...and here I was thinking a poly whip was something you bought at an adult store. Jokes aside, yeah, I made the switch last fall and it's night and day. No more elbow grease and praying I didn't miss a spot.

Ha, Jason524 beat me to the punch on that one! I can't help but laugh because when I first heard the term "poly whip," I had the exact same thought. But you're right, switching to a polypropylene whip is a total game changer for detailing. I spent years using microfiber towels and compound, always second guessing my work. Now I just wipe and walk away, no sore shoulders or worry about swirl marks. It's honestly one of those upgrades that makes you wonder why you didn't do it years ago.

I gotta disagree a little bit. Wire brush still wins for me on really caked on creosote, the poly whip just doesn't bite the same way. Different strokes for different jobs I guess.
