Serious question, what do you do when a nest is so packed the rods won't turn?
Had one two weeks ago on a 1920s house over in Lakewood where the flue was packed solid with starling nests, and my 8 inch poly brush just spun on top of it. I tried the weighted chain for about 20 minutes, then switched to my old 6 inch brush with the drill rod and worked it down in short pushes instead of forcing it. Took almost 2 hours instead of the usual 45 minutes, but I got through and pulled out two full trash bags of junk. Now I'm wondering if the drill rod is really the answer or if I should try something else next time. Has anyone had luck with a different setup for the really packed ones?
