Plastic brush vs. poly brush for clay flue liners - not even close
I used a plastic bristle brush for like 3 years on clay liners. Thought it was fine. Then last week I grabbed a poly brush from a guy I was helping on a job out in Arlington. Night and day difference. The poly got through a layer of crusty creosote in half the passes. Plastic just kinda slid over it. The poly actually dug in. Now I gotta buy one. Anyone else made the switch and felt dumb for waiting?

Yeah I wasted two years with plastic too, guess I thought scrubbing harder would fix a bad tool.

Funny how that works, happens with a lot of tools once you try the better version you can't go back. Your mileage may vary but sometimes you just don't know what you're missing until you actually feel the difference in your hands. Kind of like switching from a cheap sponge to a good scrubber for dishes, once you see how much less effort it takes you wonder why you put up with the old one.
