Old chimney in a 1910 row home, took me 3 days to get the flue liner right
I was sweeping this place in Philly and the liner was offset by almost 2 inches at the crown, which meant every rod I ran kept snagging on a jagged spot halfway down. I tried a smaller brush, then a heavier one, then I finally pulled the camera in there and saw it was a cracked terracotta section that had shifted during a re-point years ago. Has anyone else had to deal with a hidden offset like that, and did you end up patching it or just advising a full reline to the owner?

That offset sounds like the chimney equivalent of a bad blind date.
