My brush head snapped off inside a flue on a job last Tuesday

I was working a routine clean in an old house near downtown Cleveland and the wire brush head just popped right off the rod, got stuck about 8 feet up. Anyone else ever dealt with a brush head breaking off mid-sweep and how did you fish it out?

And yeah if the magnet trick doesn't grab it, try wrapping a rag around the end of your rod and shoving it up there to create some friction. Then twist and pull slow, it might just wedge it loose enough to slide down.

Pull the rod out first and tape a strong magnet to the end of a new brush or a long screwdriver. Use that to grab the head from the side, not straight on. If it's really stuck, try a shop vac with a skinny hose attachment rigged to the rod - works better than you'd think for getting a grip on it.
