Found a raccoon family living in a flue in Louisville
I was doing a routine sweep last Tuesday on an old Victorian in the Highlands neighborhood and the homeowner said she heard scratching for weeks. I got my camera up there and sure enough, there was a whole nest of babies about 15 feet down. The mom had shredded the mesh cap and packed in leaves and junk. It took me almost 4 hours to safely evict them and patch the crown with new stainless steel. I've dealt with birds and squirrels before but never raccoons this deep. How do you folks handle animal nests that are way past the damper? Do you charge extra for the cleanup or fold it into the sweep price? I told the lady $350 and she didnt flinch, but I feel like I underpriced it for the mess I had to haul out.

Heard a podcast say raccoons will tear through anything but stainless, so at least you fixed it right.
