Counted 47 full soot clumps from one fireplace job last Tuesday

I was cleaning out a rental property on Oak Street and just started tallying the soot clumps that came out of the flue. Hit 47 before I lost count, and I've never seen that many in a single house before. Any of you guys keep track of how much you pull out per job?

You ever get that weird feeling of pride counting something gross like that? I think my record was around 30 something from a house that hadn't been cleaned since the 80s, so 47 is seriously impressive even if it means you earned every bit of that paycheck. I usually just grab a handful and guess, but maybe I should start keeping a tally to see how bad some of these jobs really are. Then again, if my wife saw me counting soot clumps she'd probably think I've finally lost it completely.

My buddy Mike tried this once on a job in this old farmhouse near Hastings. He got to 42 before his coworker dared him to eat one, and he actually did it just to prove a point lol. @leow90 you're braver than me for tallying up 47, I'd probably lose count after the first 10 and just give up. Mike said the smell alone was enough to make him stop counting and just start bagging everything.
