That line cook in Dallas called me out and I can't stop thinking about it

I was bitching about the new expo system at the diner and this 19 year old line cook goes 'you're just mad cause it shows how slow you are'. He was right, I was spending 10 extra seconds per ticket double checking stuff instead of trusting my station. Has anyone else had a younger cook just put you in your place like that?

God, right? It's that brutal honesty from someone who hasn't learned to sugarcoat things yet. I mean, it stings because they're usually just stating the obvious without any filter, which is way more effective than a manager dancing around it. Kinda makes you respect the kid for having the guts to say what everyone else is thinking.

Oh absolutely, @burns.fiona. I've been on the receiving end of that kind of honesty from my niece and it's like getting hit with a truth bomb wrapped in a juice box. Makes you realize how much time we waste on fancy corporate speak when a kid can just say "that's a bad idea" and move on.
