That $50 knife sharpener I scoffed at actually changed my prep game

I've been using the same $20 pull-through for years, thinking it was fine. Last week my sous brought in a cheap whetstone kit from Amazon and showed me the difference on my own chef's knife after a 10 minute session. Has anyone else had a cheap tool totally outdo what you thought was good enough?

Man oh man, that pull through sharpeners are straight garbage honestly. I used one for years too and thought my knives were sharp until I tried a proper stone. It's crazy how bad those cheap sharpeners actually make your edge, they just grind away metal unevenly. A basic whetstone for like 15 bucks will blow your mind after a few tries. Don't even need a fancy expensive one, just a decent two sided stone and a little practice.

Damn, a ten minute session turned your everyday knife into a beast? That's wild.
