Hot take: A line cook told me my knife grip was wrong and it totally changed my speed.

I've been using a pinch grip for years but this kid showed me I was choking the blade too tight. Now I relax my hand more and I'm getting through a case of onions in like 15 minutes instead of 25. Anyone else get a random tip that actually worked?

Oh man, I was totally skeptical about grip stuff too. Tbh, I used to think holding the knife tight gave me more control and that was the only way to go. Then a buddy who's a sushi chef showed me how loose his grip is and I tried it on a pile of bell peppers. My hand didn't cramp up halfway through and my cuts were way more even. I felt kinda dumb for being stubborn about it for so long.
