Dropped $220 on a used Hobart mixer off a guy in Fort Worth and it saved my holiday season
Twelve years ago I was hand creaming butter for 200 cookie orders and my wrist was shot, so I rolled the dice on a beat up 20 quart from a bakery that closed. Do you all still roll with older gear you found cheap, or is it all new stuff for you?
My aunt ran a small bakery in Waco and swore by the old Hobart she bought at a restaurant auction back in the 90s. She put maybe 15 years on that thing and it never quit. I read somewhere that the old ones were built with metal gears instead of the plastic stuff they use now, so they just keep going if you oil them. You got a deal at $220, those things run forever if you treat them right.
