Pro tip: knob and tube wiring in a 1918 Craftsman in Toledo ate up 5 weekends
Bought a $32k four square near the old Libbey glass plant and figured the wiring was a weekend job. Turns out the knob and tube ran through every joist in the house and my insurance guy said he would not write a policy until it was gone, so I spent 5 weekends crawling in insulation and drilling holes while my wife asked if we made a mistake. If you see cloth wrapped wire in the basement just walk away unless you enjoy that kind of thing. Anyone here actually kept theirs and found an insurer who did not care?
