I quit driving 2 hours to hunt for cheap houses and started calling the county clerk instead
I used to spend every Saturday driving all over southern Ohio looking at $15,000 to $30,000 places listed online, and half the time the photos were 10 years old or the house was already gone. Last month I started calling the county recorder's office first and asking for vacant property lists, and I got 14 addresses in one afternoon without leaving my couch. The old listing sites had me chasing houses that sold 6 months ago. The clerk in Ross County even mailed me a printout for $2. Has anyone else gone the county records route, or am I the last one to figure this out?
