TIL a whole chicken at $1.29 a pound beats the $4.99 rotisserie bird if you actually eat the leftovers
I stood in the grocery aisle doing the math on a Sunday and picked the raw whole chicken over the hot rotisserie one, mostly because I could get two meals out of it. Roasted it with carrots and onions I already had, then simmered the bones into stock and got about 6 cups of broth plus enough meat for soup two days later. Total came to maybe $9 for four dinners, where the rotisserie bird would've been one dinner and gone. Does anyone else bother with the carcass or do you just toss it?
