That $6 bag of dried lentils in my pantry saved my grocery bill this month
I finally sat down and added up my food spending for March and saw I was blowing about $60 a week on lunches alone. So two weeks ago I grabbed a $6 bag of dried lentils at the Aldi on Maple and cooked a big pot with an onion, a carrot, and some old bacon ends from the freezer. That pot gave me lunch for four days, and it honestly tasted better than the $11 salad I used to grab near my office. I'm not saying I'm a lentils-every-day person now, but I want to know what cheap staples actually got you through a tight month, because I'm still figuring this out.
