Warning: my $11 grocery run turned into the best pot of beans I have made in ages
Went to the Aldi on Carson Street with $11 in my pocket and grabbed a bag of dried pintos, an onion, and a ham hock from the discount bin. Simmered the lot for about 3 hours on Sunday while I did laundry, and my kids ate two bowls each without a single complaint. Now I am wondering why I ever bought canned. What is your go-to cheap dried bean combo?
